Introducing Photog...

I am so proud and excited to introduce our next team member of Life In Fashion With Lindaisy!  Erin is another great gal pal from the Winona State University days (insert sigh here, if you had lived in Winona you would miss it too).  E and I lived together after college in Uptown and they were formative years to say the least.  Together we have grown from irresponsible 20-somethings to confused 30-somethings!  She took up photography as a hobby last Winter, and it has grown into a passion.  Her excitement to catch the right shot and make me look good, especially when I don't is what brought her to the team!

Erin works at the University of Minnesota and lives with her boyfriend Brian in south Minneapolis.  E and I share a photography board on Pinterest that you can follow here.  You can catch Erin's fantastic photog ability during sponsor weeks on the blog and various other times.  I can't wait for her to share her passion with you on this site.  I hope she inspires you to discover your creative side too!

Dark On Bottom...

Jacket - J.Crew; Blouse - Cabi contact Carrie Carroll Here; Denim - Loft similar Here; Shoes - Old Navy buy Here; Bag - Coach

This week has been all about different ways to go dark for the Fall.  Monday it was the hair, Wednesday it was dark on top with bright bottoms, and lastly today it's dark denim with a pop of color on the top.  This of course is another recycled out from the infamous closet!

This jacket I got on clearance from J.Crew about 3 years ago, and when I purchased it I am sure the days were longer and temps higher (aka Spring/Summer).  I picked it up because it was a good price and I knew I could make it work for me, which is my mado!  Our clothes must work for us, meaning they have the ability to be worn dressy/casual, multiple seasons, etc.  So to get this goodie rocked for Fall it's best to be worn with dark denim because it's so bright in color.

Dark denim is great for the purpose of toning down pieces that might be bold, bright or too "Springy".  So use your dark bottoms to get Spring/Summer pieces in to the cooler seasons.

Dark On Top...

Blazer - American Eagle Outfitters, Turtleneck - J.Crew buy Here, Pants - Loft buy Here, Belt - Loft buy Here, Shoes - J.Crew similar Here

So are you all hung over from the election this morning?  I did wake up a little stiff, but I think that was from doing yoga yesterday for the first time is years...who knows!

This week is all about going dark for the season!  Monday it was the hair and today it's the jacket.  I get a lot of clients from Fashion Fix wanting to wear dark colors for the Fall and are often afraid of look too drab or too goth.  Here is what we forget, some color with deep hues is still seasonally appropriate.  What I am loving about this outfit is that I pulled the pants from a summer purchase, and you know me I think our clothes should work for us.  So to see how to wear a past season piece in the current makes my heart happy!!  Toss in a good blazer, hello how fab is the piping and I am dance on the ceiling!  (In the words of Lionel Richie, YouTube video here.  I was crying from laughing at the 80's hair, clothes, and dance moves!  And a cameo by Rodney Dangerfield, it's just the best.)

PS - The great blazer is from about 6 years ago.  So this outfit is really about recycling the closet!

Dark Side...

Welcome back gang!  I hope y'all had a great weekend!  I did a little bowling, a little babysitting and a little hair coloring.  Well I guess you could say a lot of hair coloring, I went from carmel brown to almost black.  It was time to make the seasonal change with my luscious locks.  Truth be told I don't often color my hair, and my budget doesn't allow the salon charge.  However I stumbled upon a fantastic gal and great downtown salon here in Minneapolis.  Caitie is a new stylist at Sanctuary Salonspa Minneapolis and is working on hair models and giving deep discounts and sometimes charging nothing at all for some services.  This great color was only $25, and they use all Aveda products!

If you are looking to freshen up your style and want to save some dollars this is the perfect time!  Here is how you do it...

I know I am late to the game publishing pictures of carved pumpkins, but whatever!  Special note, my man friend would like your astonishment on how well he depicted the Vikings helmet (5th from the right) and how poor I did on carving mine.  In all fairness I gave up on carving the perfect pumpkin because I was more concerned with coordinating pictures for the blog.  Special thanks to Nathan Wong for snapping the pumpkin pics, I was having camera stupid in the dark and he was having camera intelligence.

Not telling which is mine...

Find Style...

Women are always looking to wear the newest style and buy the next trend.  It's hard to keep up with what is happening inside the walls of our nearest shopping destination.  Trust me I used to struggle with it too!  We fall victim to overspending and under-buying.  Ughh...it's a terrible felling to spend countless hours and dollars trying to keep your wardrobe "up to date".  This problem is an epidemic among women that I intend to stop!

You have heard me talk about the biz, Fashion Fix.  Our mission is to empower women with embracing their own personal style and showing them where it lives in their closet.  Last night I was a guest contributor for a fashion segment on a radio show I love, Jordana Green on WCCO Radio 830 AM.  I was asked to talk about this very topic, and I thought I would turn into a blog post!

(Podcast for segment link here!)

Here are 3 easy exercises to help you find the way to your personal style!

Here is a link to fun quiz to get the ball rolling.  Are you classic, a romantic or trendy?

Make a style board.  I know we all LOVE Pinterest, but it's fun to be crafty and it's more inspiring to cut and paste with real scissors and glue instead of the right click on your mouse!

Last see where your style lives.  Go to your closet and try to make outfits using what you already own that mimic what you put on your style board.  You will be able to see what you are missing to complete the looks.

I know this can all sound scary and confusing but give it a try!  It will be a fun weekend project and if you need help give me a call or shoot me an email, that's what this is all about!
