1 Outfit 1 Day 2 Ways

http://lifeinfashionwithlindaisy.blogspot.com/2014/06/1-outfit-1-day-2-ways.html

Like many of you, my days are not always filled with glitz, glamor, and gallivanting around from one fantastic thing to the next.  Yesterday my hours were scheduled for a Target run, going to the bank, waiting at the DMV, and hanging out with some cool kids in the afternoon.  Shorts and and a tank top it was; there was not even an accessory to be found on me.  But after all of that running around, I did have a rendezvous scheduled with some of favorite ladies at Bar La Grasa.  Obviously I wanted to be a little more put together for the the crowd at BLG.  Digging through my closet in a rush and making a costume change wasn't going to happen.  I already had enough on my to do list, stressing about clothes was not going to be another one.  So I took my day look to a styled night outfit.

Key Add Ons:

Layering with a blazer.  This gives a structured look that the knit tanks does not have on it's own.  Also the blazer is in navy, much more approachable than black and keeps the look casual.

Style is in the details.  Rolling the sleeves of the blazer shows off the striped lining and gives is a cool casual summer night feel.  The tiny tuck is essential, this breaks up the all the fabric and shows a waist line.

Accessorizing right.  A long necklace draws the eye in and compliments the line of the blazer.  Also, gold jewelery elevates any look.  A chunky bracelet is easy and a quick grab.  Wedge shoes, not as dressy as a heel but gives you the same 'night out' style!

Cute Girl {Photo Bomber}

I have been rummaging through pics of old photo shoots and these melted my heart.  One, because they were taken my amazing sister, who has been an unshakable supporter of me and Fashion Fix since the beginning.  She comes to every workshop and is my best promoter!  Two, how cute is this little photo bomber!  She was watching from afar the whole time and just couldn't wait to jump into the snapshot :)  Three, seriously those sun rays make me sigh.

I can feel the sun and smell the grass in these pictures!

Blouses... What blouses?!

I am in the business of educating women what to wear, how to wear it, what to buy and where to buy it!  This week my focus of choice is the blouse.  I have worked with couple of fabulous clients in the past month who all have had a common theme of needing to impact their style with belts and blouses.  You can see their photo catalogs {here} & {here} & {here}.  And since I already was on my soap box about the belt {here} I thought I would preach about the need for essential blouses here!  You can link up to Monday's post {here} where I talked about why the blouse is so important and showed you how you can wear it.  After that post went live, immediately following I got the question: What blouses should women have?  In my professional opinion, at minimum all women should have the following 4 blouses...

Why?  Because with these 4 standard blouses you will be able to outfit any cardigan, jacket, blazer, skirt, and pant.  Because with these 4 standard blouses you can be styled for work, play, and fun.  And because with these 4 standard blouses you will always have something to wear!

Real women, living real life in the Twin Cities...  Take inspiration from them!

Dump The Frump: More Belts & Blouses!

Back again in the Dump the Frump series.  If this is your first time linking up to the frump busting blog you can read up on past dumps {here}.  This post is obviously going to include belting, if you know me you know I am obsessed with getting women in belts!  It is the most underutilized accessories that can make you lose about 10lbs instantly in an outfit.  I have styled almost every client in belts, and almost every client hates it at first but then can't live with out them once they see the difference.  More belting tips and pics are {here}.

What I want to also highlight in this post is the under-worn structured blouse!  Most women shy away from this article of clothing, mostly because it's difficult to find one that fits across the bust.  But, you can get around that.  Why I love the structured blouse is because even if you have to wear it a size up to fit right it still looks flattering!  This is because a good blouse will have darts and seams in the right places.  This will keep the garment structured with shape so you don't look frumpy.  Plus you'll see in the pictures below that if you style the blouse in the right way you won't look broad, masculine, or frumpy.

If you are looking through these photos and thinking to your self... I want to dump my frump! You can, just call Fashion Fix at 612-916-5340 or email lindsey@fashionfixmn.com.  You can also visit the Fashion Fix website or facebook page for more information.

More Dump the Frump

These are my favorite post, Dump the Frump.  The content for this series is driven by real women, with real wardrobes, and real struggles!  What is always funny to me with these consultations is that no matter how different we women think we are, we have so many of the same problems when it comes to our wardrobes and how to style them better!  You can look through past Dump the Frump post {here}, and you'll see some themes - tucking in, belting, hemming pants, etc.  Even though you may have a different body type or shape from the women in the pictures, you can still apply the styling tips your looks!

Be inspired and be... not frumpy!

Dump the Frump...

Every single client I work with and every single person that reads this blog is worried about looking frumpy.  It is the number one problem women are hoping to solve when being styled.  Here are some of the biggest mistakes that women make when dressing that cause the frump...

1. Tuck in and belt it!  When you hide your figure, you look like you have no figure.  What does that do?  It makes you look frumpy.

2. You can only wear one loose piece at a time.  If you are wearing a drapey top make sure you pair it will some skinny pants.  If you wear baggy on top and baggy on bottom, you are going to look baggy :(

There you go 2 easy peasy simply style tips you can start doing today!  I promise you will dump the frump with these changes.
