How to style a fur vest!

We did it.  Client Karin and I gave fairytales the bird!  Lol, not really.   We did however laugh a lot, hear great singing, enjoy a bountiful feast, have great conversation, and looked good doing it!  Karin and I had our selves a great gals night out on Thursday, heading downtown for a good meal and opening night of Disenchanted a Comedy Musical.  

The best part is that it gave us both a reason to wear those pieces in our closets that we never have an occasion to wear.  I got to pull out my fur and leather vest and Karin busted out her leopard jacket.  We love our animal inspired pieces, but you know... they make a statement when you wear them.  So we were waiting for the right occasion, dinner and a show with your best gal pal, what could be a better time!  We got glam and hit up Bar La Grassa for some unbelievable pasta and cocktails.  Seriously, life changing food here!  Then we jetted down Hennepin Ave to the Illusion Theater for some musical satire.  The show did not disappoint, and we loved every minute of it!

What I miss...  Number one, this navy stripe tee from J.Crew.  Darn the red permanent that left its mark and took this top away from me!  Number two, I miss it being warm in March.  Although the temps haven't been terrible this month, I could stand a few degrees in the upward direction.  Number three, having time for photo shoots!  I remember this being a leisurely Sunday when my friend Erin came over to take these pics.  After we drank wine, ordered pizza, and relaxed.  Now I can't remember when the last Sunday was when Eric and I didn't have something scheduled.

Style Found; Boots

I am pretty jazzed about this post!  I have countless clients who have hard to find items on their shopping list.  Most of the items become difficult to shop for because it's a fit issue, or style issue.  This time of the year the top trouble maker is the tall boot.  Two problems my clients have are: extended calf size and appropriate style for tweens.

Now the solution to these issues must be credited to the right people.  The first being my sister, she has found great boots for the extended calf size.  Both of these options are affordable and have great style.  They can be outfitted with dresses, denim, leggings, and skirts.  Also they provide comfort in their fit.  Elastic backs help to keep the shaft of the boot from cutting into the leg, and the wider shaft on the second option allows room to wear them over jeans!

The second problem solver is one my first clients, Andrea.  This past weekend I ran into the two of them, and I was stopped in my tracks when I saw Ella's fantastic boots!  She is living on the edge of not being a kid any more, yet not quite a teenager.  Finding clothing and shoes that fit her style and that are age appropriate can be difficult.  This find in the shoe department was perfect.  No bedazzled details that you would typically get on a youth boot, and no sassy style that you might a 16 year old wearing.  She can live on that edge comfortably in these!

This or That: Suede Ankle Booties

This has become one of my favorite posts to write, the This or That series.  Most of my inspiration comes for J.Crew, and I find most of my knock offs at Target.  Which I love because everybody wants to have J.Crew style, but most of us have a Target budget!  Today's pick...

The ankle booties has been getting hotter and hotter over the past couple of years.  Styles have been growing and becoming more wearable for everyday.  I picked up my pair on clearance, and have worn them about 3 times a week ever since.  This style can cross over from dressy to causal flawlessly because of their color, fabrication, and heel structure.  If the J.Crew booties fit in your checkbook you can get them {here}, other wise Target has their version {here}.  Now I know they don't look exactly the same, but their functions is absolutely the same: tan, suede, ankle, chunky heel!  And I don't know if this is still true but at one point Nine West had the contract to make the Target in house brand shoes.  So their silhouette and structure was of great design quality, just lower budget on material (ie they are not going to be real leather).

I loved them here when I wore them with a cute silk dress and some printed socks.  Now the socks are from J.Crew, those I could afford (on sale)!

I am probably late to the party!  Well...
