3 must have jackets for spring!

I love talking layers ladies!  Especially when it's one that adds shape, style, and polish to any outfit.  I teach the Fashion Fix client a simple formula ::  top + layer + accessory = a styled look.  Your layer, or 3rd piece, can take on many forms.  Jackets, cardigans, vest, etc.  Having a variety of these '3rd pieces' is important.  Having variety keeps you from saying, "I wear this all the time!"  But variety doesn't have to mean plenty, it just means options.  You can keep it simple.  To help you with that simplicity here are the only 3 jackets (layers aka 3rd pieces) you need this spring.

1.  The denim jacket.  If you already have one, be sure it's up to date and current.  Your denim jacket should be a medium wash, fitted, and have little to no detail.  This will be your go to piece to wear with skirts, dresses, and colored pants or denim.  If you want to expand your style try pairing this casual piece with silky tops, black pants, or any other dressy piece for a mix of high and low.

2.  The cotton utility jacket.  This piece should be in cotton twill, have lots of pocket detail, and light weight.  Great colors for this jacket are tan, brown, green, and grey.  Keeping this jacket in a neutral color will give it versatility in your closet, giving you the ability to pair it with a variety colors!  I love accessorizing the utility jacket with a scarf or long necklace, complimenting the casual yet styled look of the garment.

3.  The navy blazer.  This piece should be fitted, hit at or right above the hip, and can be in a variety of navy shades.  This blazer is your best option for dressing up any spring or summer top while still being able to stay casual in a pair of jeans.  Having this blazer in navy is the key to it's style success.  Wearing a black blazer in spring or summer can look daunting and dark.  You'll want to have a layer that keeps your look seasonal and light!

Person 2 Person...The best denim jacket!

Ladies, ladies, ladies.  I talk a lot about 'must haves' and 'essentials'.  Things that should be in every woman's wardrobe.  In fact, if you've ever been to a Style Right Workshop by Fashion Fix you walk away with an entire checklist of what should be in your closet!  On that check list I have a special little category for 'casual jackets', and the the jacket I talk about at length is the denim jacket!  Seriously, if you are one of my clients reading this article you are rolling your eyes and thinking to your self "...ya ya ya, I know I know I know!"  I drill this into the minds of everyone I work with :)  You can see how versatile it is.  I love using this piece to dress down a dressed up outfit, add an element of surprise to a casual look, and give style to the everyday image!  The immediate question I get is, "Where do I find a good one?!"  Your denim jacket needs to be medium to dark wash, fit down a size, and have just the right detail.  It's hard to find... Until now!

I recently got introduced to Jockey Person 2 Person clothing and accessories.  This denim jacket was life changing, they have the best stuff!  And it fits comfortable too!!!  Lisa Brainer, a local rep, let me play dress up with her collection and I had a hey day.  Jockey P2P has this gem of a denim jacket, and the second I put it on I knew.  I knew it was going to be the denim jacket I recommend from now on!  It has all the right fit and details I want in a denim jacket.  Now you get to grab for 15% off!  Email Lisa TODAY for your order (while supplies last...).  Mention Fashion Fix for your discount now through the end of the month.  Don't miss out!

Mall of America Mania: Part 1

You may already have guessed that I am a Mall of America die hard.  I bob and weave through traffic of people, zip in and out of the best stores, and always score great style for clients.  Most think I'm crazy, because not most people would say they LOVE the MOA.  But I do!  It's a one stop shop for every thing you need to be styled right!

My latest voyage was with Karin, a client I love and adore.  Who you might remember from the Goodwill shopping trip, you can re-read that {here}!  She wanted a chic look for fall, with easy accessories and great staples!  We spent our time at the best stores that would score her this look.  The Loft, Old Navy, Cotton On, H & M, etc.  Too many great looks for one post, so here's a start :)

I know, I know, you are dying right!  She is so cute and these outfits are fantastic.  I did my thing, but really Karin's confidence radiates through her and she makes anything look good.  So a few things:

1.  Tune back in tomorrow for more looks styled and shopped on our travels to the MOA.

2.  If you want to learn how to get that style confidence then you need to take the Styled Right Workshop by Fashion Fix.  Dates, times, locations, and registration links are {here}.

3.  If you want to get styled on an amazing shopping trip like this, visit the Fashion Fix website and learn more about becoming a client.

Until then, be a gal pal and share what you see.  If you know someone who love style then share this post with them on facebook, twitter, or google + .

How To Wear A Denim Jacket

http://lifeinfashionwithlindaisy.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-wear-denim-jacket.html

This post has been sitting in my draft folder for some time now.  With the rain, clouds, and cold today I figure it's fitting.  The new spring skirts, dresses, and tops we've been stocking up on can't be put on hold.  Especially after the beautiful weekend we just had, wasn't losing the layers life changing!  The denim jacket has a knack for helping to  keep all those great seasonal pieces in rotation.  My favorite way to style it is to balance out, or neutralize an outfit that might have a lot of print or color to it.  I also turn to the denim jacket when I have a client in a loose dress or drapey knit and we need to add a little structure to the look, (and a blazer would be do dressy.)

Styling Notes

- Denim jackets are so versatile, they look great paired with dressy pieces or more casual outfits.
- Always cuff or roll the sleeve, this will give such a structured garment a softer and more feminine look and feel.
- Under layers can be left out or tucked in, if your top hangs longer than the jacket that's okay!
- The non-traditional denim wash is a great buy too, colored or white denim jackets give great style also.
- If you are looking for the traditional wash stay in the medium to dark wash.  A light wash, or one that is distressed, should only be added into your wardrobe in addition to a traditional denim jacket.

How To Wear A Statement Necklace

Last night Fashion Fix participated in a busy, big, and fun pop-up shop.  It was the second time Fashion Fix was a vendor at the Wild Ruffle Pop-Up, and I am excited to have the biz there again in the fall!  There were crafters, creators, designers and more.  One of the most popular tables where those filled with beautiful hand crafted jewelry.  Lot's of necklaces, rings, earring, pins, and other adornments.  It got me thinking about all of the clients I work with who love to pick up these pieces, bring them home, and then never wear them!  It's heartbreaking!  Accessories are the flavor to any great outfit and can significantly change up a look depending on how you wear them.

A hot piece right now is the statement necklace.  So get out the duster and clean off those buys, because here is is how you are going to wear them!

Jackets & Cardigans

Do you have a stash of jewelry, pile of scarfs, or other accessories you aren't wearing?  Do you want to learn how to wear and style your accessories, or the rest of your wardrobe?  Let's get together then!
