I've Got The Blues

Even though the title to this article is a play on words (get it, I'm wearing two shades of blue...)  I really did have the blues this summer!  Early in July I took a big tumble off my bicycle (I say bicycle because when I say bike, the first question I get is "...a motorcycle?")  I separated my shoulder and sat on the couch for a good 2 1/2 weeks.  Which means that I can have an in-depth conversation with you about the t.v. show 'Weeds', and the dysfunction, or sanity as some might say, of the character Nancy Botwin.  Can we say #bingewatching :)

But I'm back on the wagon!  Styling, shopping, and posting, oh my!  Posting this week is dedicated to my besties at Second Debut.  They are hosting their annual Fall Fashion Party where you'll partake in exclusive styles, personal shopping, and light bights!  Two local stylist, moi and Amanda from Bella Moxie will be there to help you shop, style and have fun.

Fashion Fix Favorites

I am frequently asked by guests at the Styled Right Workshop, and clients - what's in my closet, what can't I live with out?  For the most part this list stays pretty true, sometimes things change and new items are added.  I often recommend my picks to clients, friends, and family.  Guess what, you're my friends and family too!  If you want to be a client, that can also happen - just link {here}!

1. J.Crew Vintage Tee - white and black are essential, if you want to get fun I love the neon pink and green too

2. Loft Leopard Belt - I wear this over dresses, with jeans, and skirts

3. Old Navy Rock Star Skinny Jeans - dark, dark, dark wash!

4. Steve Madden Ballet Flats - a nude shoe should be in every closet

5. Lia Sohia Efflorescence Necklace - pendant necklace are the best for elongating the torso and drawing the eye in

6. H&M Leggings - they have a high rise and never stretch out!

7. J.Crew Gold Hoop Earrings - classic piece of jewelry that can be styled with every outfit

8. Target Merona Crepe Dress - this dress get pulled out of the closet on the regs, I dress up and casual at least twice a week

Spring, Sprang, Sprung

It's the first day of Spring!  The sun’s rays and melting snow have us thinking about bright colors, sandals, and more.  This is the best time of year to play with new looks and new trends.  But overhauling the entire closet can be costly, with both time and money!  So how do you get fresh looks on a fast time line and short purse strings?

Here are a few quick ways to get that updated look!

Color & Print
Radiant Orchid is this year’s hue, as decided by Pantone.  Pop this shade of purple into your wardrobe with accessories.  You can wear accessories with more then one outfit, and it’s less of a commitment!

Neutral Statements
The safari look is a staple in style.  Don’t camouflage yourself in browns and greens!  Reds and yellows add life and make a great style statement when worn with neutrals!

http://lifeinfashionwithlindaisy.blogspot.com/2014/02/every-hour-of-everyday-i-receive-dozens.html
Every hour of everyday I receive dozens of notification, on just this one pin!  People just can't get enough of her style and beauty, who can blame them.

I love this look too, that's why I pinned it from the blog I follow, My Curves & Curls.  It was pinned from {this} specific post.  I got to thinking, why does everyone love this look?  Let's break it down.

1. Layer; adding a 3rd piece makes any outfit polished and put together.  Blazers are especially magical, when worn they really elevate a look.

2. Stripes; a pattern that is only two colors is an endless canvas.  You can accessorize a zillion colors in almost any shade with patterns like this.  A special note: two colored patterns in neutrals are the best; ie: navy & white, black & white, tan & white, tan & black, etc.

3. Bright Color; a splash of color in a jeweled tone is jazzy!  Mustard is always a surprise touch when worn, and it pops with navy.  But you could swap this out for purple, pink, red, etc and get the same effect.

4. Detailed Accessory; hand bags with hardware or metal jewelry adds interest to a look.  Layering in the right accessories show intention when you were getting dressed :)

5. Animal Print; this is the number print I advice all my clients to introduce into their wardrobe.  All stylist will tell you that animal print should be worn like a neutral, can be added to almost any outfit.

Okay Okay Okay, but how are women in Minneapolis doing this.  I'll show you!  See how Fashion Fix clients are implementing these style tips.

1. Layer

2. Stripes

3. Bright Color

5. Animal Print

Making the Change; How to wear animal print!

This is a little bit Throwback Thursday, and a little bit This or That, and a lot bit great style :)  Whether I am teaching the Styled Right class or I am working one-on-one with a client, animal print always pops up in the conversion.  If you had a chance to read up on my Fall must haves you already know animal print is on there; and don't be surprised if you see on the Winter, Spring and Summer shopping guide!  It's a great print that can be incorporated into your wardrobe with an accessory, a shoe, a pant, a sweater, and the list goes on.  There are endless ways you can make this style work for you.  So for Throwback Thursday I thought I would dig up some pictures one of my best gal pals took about 3 year ago.  We did fun photo shoot around this exact topic!

These are all great examples of how making this one switch can change up your look from being 'cute' to being styled!  My two biggest pieces of advice are always this: 1. treat animal print like a neutral  2. don't be afraid to wear it!

 Cardigan

Shoes

Belt

You make the switch now!

This or That: Leather Leggings

As many of you know I am a girl on a budget.  I'm still in the beginning stages of getting this business off the ground, and most of my time and money are dedicated to Fashion Fix.  But I still wants to stay in fashion!  And what is more in fashion this fall than leather...?  Not much, that's for sure.  So which of these do think made it into my closet?

Even better, when I spied these faux leather front leggings at Target they were on the clearance rack for only $17.95.  Seriously, I could do a million posts on things I pick up off the Target clearance rack.  Until I have time to do that follow me on the tweet machine {here}.  Whenever I find a good buy I tweet it out for all to know!

I don't know about you but $24 is much more checkbook friendly for me, but if you can afford it you can pick up those J.Crew leather leggings {here}.

Whole outfit; high to low!

Don't forget to come see Fashion Fix at the Wild Ruffle Pop Up Shop this weekend!!!!!

This or That: Leopard Pumps

I had a fantastic time this past weekend at the Divorcing Divas conference!  It was a joy to be among other businesses that empower women and provide resources while they are going through a difficult time.  I made many new friends and clients and I got to see many women walk away realizing that there is hope and new beginnings for their lives.

One of the stand outs from the day were my $20 Target shoes!  Inspired by the infamous J.Crew style.  Unfortunately that style isn't always in my budget, so I have to find what is...

I found my style at a more budget friendly Target :)

Luckily enough, when I picked them up they were on sale for $20.99!  Which I did tweet out when I found them; if you aren't already following Fashion Fix on Twitter you can do that {here}.  Anytime I run across a good buy I am sure to let the public know.  They carried this gal through a long day, and I was happy to give them a deserved rest when I got home.
